Jewell Hamilton
J.Winlock-Hamilton brings academic rigor and emotional insight to her work, shaped by a lifetime of teaching, scholarship, and personal transformation. Raised in Alabama during a time of cultural change, she developed a strong foundation in discipline, empathy, and lifelong learning.
She earned a master’s degree from Loyola University in Los Angeles and completed her doctorate at the University of La Verne. Her academic career culminated at Auburn University, where she retired as a college professor after decades of mentoring students and fostering intellectual growth.
In 2010, she experienced the loss of her husband of thirty years, an event that profoundly altered her personal and emotional landscape. Rather than withdrawing, she engaged deeply with the processes of grief, healing, and renewal. That journey became the catalyst for her writing.
Her work speaks directly to individuals navigating aging, loss, and the desire for continued connection. She approaches these subjects with clarity, dignity, and respect, avoiding sentimentality while honoring emotional truth.
Through Living and Loving After 70 & Beyond, J. Winlock-Hamilton offers guidance rooted in lived experience and thoughtful reflection. Her message affirms that aging does not diminish worth or longing, and that meaningful connection remains an essential and attainable part of life.
